Sorbic Acid

Halal

A mold-inhibiting preservative made synthetically or from rowan berries; halal.

Why?

Sorbic acid is a preservative that prevents mold and yeast growth in cheese, baked goods, and dried fruit. It was originally isolated from rowan berries and is now produced synthetically. Neither route involves animal products or alcohol.
