Beeswax

Also known as: E901

Halal

A wax coating from bees, used on candy and fruit; halal.

Why?

Beeswax is secreted by honeybees and used as a glazing agent on candies, fruit, and cheese rinds. Since it is a secretion rather than flesh from the insect, and bees are not slaughtered to obtain it, beeswax is considered halal by consensus.
