Papain
A plant enzyme from papaya, used as a halal-friendly meat tenderizer; halal.
Why?
Papain is a proteolytic enzyme extracted from papaya fruit and latex, used as a meat tenderizer and in some cheesemaking and brewing processes as an alternative to animal-derived enzymes. It is entirely plant-derived.
